Research

Research is an integral part of Calgary's 10 year plan to end homelessness. We are committed to the collection, demonstration and dissemination of best practices in ending homelessness. The success of this bold initiative will be dependent on our ability to expand, co-ordinate and deepen our research capabilities so that we can gain a detailed understanding
of homelessness in Calgary and across Canada.

In order to make good evidence-based decisions, high-quality information is required — information that:
• Is relevant to policy makers.

Calgary’s 10 Year Plan to End Homelessness

As the first Canadian city to develop and implement a 10 Year Plan to End Homelessness, Calgary is at a critical juncture as it sets out in a bold, new direction. The Plan recognises that “research matters” – in fact, one of its five core strategies is specifically focused on improving data and systems knowledge. To successfully accomplish the Plan, our city needs the efforts of our research community. Calgary is home to some of the country’s brightest researchers.
